Roseville Parks and Recreation, under the guidance of
the Parks and Recreation Commission, provide performances that pique the interest in
everyone. Artists share their talents with the community three evenings each week,
Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, late May through August. Funding for this summer
performance /concert series varies and is accomplished through sponsorships, donations
and grants.
The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council has a grant program that's purpose is to stimulate
and encourage the creation, performance and appreciation of the arts in the seven county
metropolitan area of Minnesota.
This year the Metropolitan Regional Arts council has awarded the City of Roseville a grant
for $4,000 to assist in funding the summer performances /concert series in the Central Park
Amphitheatre. The grant application is attached.
POLICY OBJECTIVE
The attached proposal is consistent with the policy of leveraging other public and private
resources to obtain funding to offset the costs of providing programs, services and facilities
for Roseville residents. It is also consistent with our efforts to partner with other agencies.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
The city must provide matching funds of $4,000 if the grant were accepted. staff has
identified available support for the city's matching funds.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
OMMENDATION
Based upon the Parks and Recreation system Plan: staff recommends that the city
accept a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council for $4,000 to assist in the
offering of a summer concert series in Roseville Central Park Amphitheatre.
