A. <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda section: <br />--2 V7 Consent <br />__ I�C4 <br />Item Description: Central Park Bennett Lake Burn <br />BACKGROUND <br />As a part of the proposed natural resource restoration program that was outlined in the <br />Natural Resource Inventory Deport completed and adopted in 2002., the Parks and <br />Recreation Department is undertaking a restoration project along the north side of the <br />Bennett Lake pathway system and shoreline. Part of this project is to effectively <br />eliminate the existing undesirable vegetation; the most effective way to accomplish this <br />is with a controlled burn. <br />The burn will be conducted by qualified burn personnel that have extensive experience <br />conducting burry projects. The Roseville Fire and Police Departments as well as the <br />surrounding neighbors will be notified prier to the burn and invited to attend. <br />The burn is scheduled to take place on Monday July 7th, weather permitting. If net on <br />the 7th, then the first weather conducive day after. <br />POLICY <br />This is consistent with adopted Natural Resource Restoration Plan of the city. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATION <br />This Project is part of the 2003 PIP Budget. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Eased on the need for a restoration and maintenance of our natural resources in the <br />park system, staff recommends that the Bennet# Labe restoration area be burned on <br />Monday July 7th} or the first weather conducive day after. <br />REQUEST UEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Lotion authorizing the Fire Marshall to issue a permit to allow open burning of the <br />prairie restoration area at Bennett Lake on Monday July 7�' or the first weather <br />conducive day after. <br />
