First, you asked for more information about the Stanton Group and the data
they collect. Second, you asked about a contract clause allowing the parties to
renegotiate the 2004 gage portion of the settlement if budget circumstances suggested
that layoffs were a possibility, Staff came back on March 1 0th to address these issues
and request a continuance due to the need for a union vote and the lack of full Council
presence. This continuance was granted.
Thus this .natter is back pursuant to a Council motion to continue to this meeting.
After sharing this idea with the representatives of the 49ers ' group the following letter of
understanding is what the group has agreed to:
LIMITED 2004 RENEGOTIATION CLAUSE:
If the City finds that its budget situation for 2004 presents a deficit
unless city costs are reduced, the contract may be reopened for
renegotiation of 2004 wage adjustment/layoff implementation only,
to constitute this reduction in costs. This renegotiation may be done at
the written request of either party.
Council diction .Rea nested
Motion to approve the 003 -2004 International Unions Operating Engineers Contract
Terms with the limited 2004 renegotiation clause letter of understanding set forth above,
and direct staff to prepare the necessary docuinents for execution by the Mayor, the City
Manager and the representative for the International Unions Operating Engineers
M
