Kathleen Cassen Mickelson Parks Roseville Application Attachment #3: Reasons for Wanting to ServJ I would like to serge as a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission to help make thoughtful and fair decisions that will broadly affect the quality of life in Roseville. My desire to serve is based on my own belief that citizens must work for the betterment of their community with whatever skills they are able to offer. Well-organized people or good team players might do well on boards, commissions or committees. Those skilled at working with youth might make good coaches. People knowledgeable about the environment may fit in at the local nature center. also believe citizens need to help support the services they use the most. have used the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department's offerings extensively during the past six gears. My family enjoys the parks and trails in our city. My daughter has been in basketball, dance, t -ball, rear -ball, soccer, skating, and nature center classes. Through my four years of volunteer work at the Harriet Alexander Nature Center: l have become familiar with many people who work for the city of Roseville. I understand the enormous effort and organization required to offer Roseville residents the opportunities that fill the Parks and Recreation catalogs each near. I am keenly aware that decisions made now may affect how residents use Rosevil le's many resources for years to come. Identification of community needs through careful consideration of citizen input coupled with sound knowledge of available resources is are essential part of any public debate. Decisions cannot be based solely on emotional reactions to problems or ideas. I look forward to the chance to serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission. An opportunity to serve is an opportunity to make a difference.
