SECTION 703. 05 (BENCHES I of WAY AND 1% SECTION 1009.03 (SIGNS) BY ADDING LANGUAGE WH[CH DEFINES BENCHES AND SHELTERS AS BUS STOP _ STRUCTURES WITH SI NAGE THAT 'THE rI' MAY APPROVE IN RIGHT of WAY THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE ORDAINS: SECTION I . Purpose. The Roseville City Code, Title 7, Section 703.05, Benches in Right of Way is hereby amended by adding or revismng language necessary to define shelters as bus stop structures which, after receiving proper permits, may be placed in the light of way. The purpose of this ordinance is to provide added public safety, comfort, cleanliness, lighting and access to public transit stops. SECTION 2. Section 703.05 is hereby amended as follows: 703.05: BUS STOP STRUCTURES IN RIGHT of WAY: No bench or shelter may be placed or maintained in a public right of way without securing a permit from dic Public Works Director and the payment of an annual license fee of twenty five dollars ($25 .00). The number, size, and locations of all benches and shelters shall be in accordance with the City of Roseville /Metro Transit Bus Route plan. A permit shall not be issued unless the bench or shelter and its placement comply with the following conditions: A. Bus Stops. A bench or shelter may only be placed at a bus stop on an established bus route B. Location: A. bench or shelter shall be placed no nearer dun four feet (4') from the roadway curb or the edge of the roadway where no curb exists and shall not obstruct a pathway. C. Dumber: No more than one bus bench or shelter may be placed at a roadway intersection P n the direction of traffic flow. D. Proximity To Other Benches or Shelter: No bus bench or shelter may be placed within five hundred feet (50o') of any other bench or shelter on a roadway. E. Size: The maximum size of a bench shall be three and one -half feet {3 1125 high, seven feet (7') long and three feet (3) wide erected upon a concrete pad of maximum eight feet ($') length and four feet (4') width with walkway to the curb or roadway-edge. The rnaci�tum size of a bus shelter shall be ten (10) feet in height, fourteen (14) feet length, and five (5) feet in width erected upon a concrete pact of maximum size fifteen (15) feet in length and six (6) feet in width. The length of a shelter shall be determined by the Public Works Director and shall be dependent upon the number of buses or vehicles and users that frequent the bus stop. Fu Color: A bench or shelter shall be of a single color except a multicolored advertising sign, The heneb signage may be affixed to or may be used as the backrest of the bench. The shelter signage may be up to two (2). four feet (4') by six feet (6') advertising panels in a -sided 'V display affixed to the end wall of the shelter (or road wall on a narrow right -of -way application) and perpendicular to the roadway curb or edge viewable from one or both ends
