City o un it Minutes - 07/22/02 <br />P age 1 <br />NVII, Alternative Water Supply Study (Howard Green & Water Supply <br />Associates), y Paul Water Contract <br />Schroeder moved, Kysylyczyn seconded, to direct staff to <br />pursue a dower cosh wholesale contract for potable water <br />with St. Paul Regional Water Services. <br />Public Works Superintendent Schwartz introduced the <br />Water Source Study prepared by Howard R. Green <br />Company to review alternatives to the current wholesale <br />water contract with St. Paul Regional Water Services, <br />initiated in 1974, and expiring in 2004. <br />Mr. Schwartz stated that the City has purchased water <br />from St. Paul Regional Water Services exclusively since <br />1962 when the water distribution system was put into <br />service. The City of Roseville supplies wholesale water <br />to the City of Arden Hills through another joint <br />agreement. <br />Mr. Schwartz introduced Dave Rabey and Katherine <br />Jones of Howard R. Green Company, who were available <br />to respond to technical questions regarding the report. <br />Mr. Schwartz reviewed various options outlined in the <br />recently completed Water Source Study. <br />The study included a projected cost analysis, with the <br />three of the six most lucrative options ranging between <br />$2.25 - $2.2$ per thousand gallons of water. <br />The study gave consideration to the current and projected <br />needs of the City of Roseville, as well as those of the City <br />of Arden Hills and the City of Little Canada as wholesale <br />purchasers. <br />Mr. Schwartz stated that considerations including . <br />maintaining the City's current bevel of quality; water <br />treatment facility site issues; plant operations and the <br />impact on staff; regulatory issues; and budget impacts. <br />
