Clity of RoseviHe <br />Fire Station No. I — IAQ Investigation <br />t Project No. 6978-1301 Page <br />3.6 Asbestos Bulk Sample Results <br />Because the basement floor tile was in, poor condition in nmny areas of the basement, the <br />tile was analyzed for, asbestos content. The floor tile contains I to 3% chry'sotile asbestos. <br />The mastic on, the bottom of the tile does not contain any asbestos. <br />0 Discussion of Results <br />The floor the in the basement should berepaired or renwved. Mininully, broken <br />pieces of file should be rernoved, loose tiles glued down and missing areas of tile <br />patched, <br />4.0 Conclusions and Recommendations <br />Based on observations and sampling results, the following actions, are, recommended-, <br />Water-darnaged and, fim,gal-contaminatiled building materials, should be removed, under <br />controlled conditions.- <br />p, <br />Me bottom one-foot of sheetrock, should be, removed from siheetrock walls in the <br />basement. Where visible mold, is apparent', on sheetrock walls, the sh,eetrock should <br />be removed to at least six (6) *inches, past the area of1visible mold., <br />Porous materials, that are contaminated with mold should be bagged or wrapped in <br />plastic and, discarded. Porous items that are washable, e.g., theatre costa s, can be <br />cleaned. Non-poTous materials need to, be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. <br />Controlled conditions, such as physical isolation and negative air pressurization, of the <br />abatement, area, will protect adjacent areas and individuals from fimgal spores that are <br />released when, fimgal-contaminated materials are removed. <br />Water-stained and nfissm'g ceilm"g tiles should be replaced.
