B. <br />Department Approval Manager Approval <br />Agenda Section <br />,P Purchase of New Audio-Visual Equipment for Council Chambers <br />Item Description <br />Backgound <br />The Government Access cable Channel 16/in-,house production system at Rosev"Ile City Hall <br />installed the City Council chambers in 1990. From 1990 through 200iO some <br />equipment was replaced as needed and modest upgrades were made. <br />W <br />Concerns about the need for a, more significiant upgrade of the equipiment were priesented to <br />the Council at its June 19, 2000 work session and the August 24, 2001 work session.. T'hols <br />concerns i I nclud,ed addressing such problems as less than desirable audio and video both for <br />-the viewing audience and for Council, and audience members in the chambers. Staff also ri <br />Identified a series of'steps to address those concerns., (See attached, sta,ff memo, from 2001.� <br />The Cou,ncil'lh,as approved the, firist ' of those steps including purchasg and installing new <br />cameras, MI I crophones, speakers, monitors, and switcher. <br />Sta,ff reviewed systems from Boeck,eler and Smart Technologies,. Staff found the system that <br />best meets the expressed needs of' Councilmembers is the Bloec,keler Pointmaker PVI-X910 <br />Presentation system for approximately $5,000.
