EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE * * * * * * * * * * * Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the-9th da'.l' of June, ~986- at 7:30 p.m. The following members were present: C~shffian, Johncon, Mat~R, Kahr, and Demos, and the following were absent: None. Member John~on introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION 7905 In Recognition of Marie Slawik's Service to the City of Roseville WHEREAS, in 1964, there was an exciting idea to create a 220 acre park in the center of Roseville; and, WHEREAS, the idea gained momentum as various individuals and groups responded to the challenge; and, WHEREAS, in 1964 Marie Slawik was appointed as Chairperson of the newly formed Roseville Central Park Foundation, whose purpose was to develop the new park through donations and contributions; and, WHEREAS, because of the special interest of Marie and through her guidance, a unique recreational area has been constructed for those with physical limitations; and WHEREAS, during the past twenty-two years, Marie has committed untold number of hours and resources to making Roseville a better place to live and work; and, WHEREAS, through Marie's boundless optimism and vitality the seed of an idea was nurtured, a seed which has blossomed in twenty-two years from being in the center of the community to the community center-piece; and WHEREAS, Marie has great faith in people. She wrote in a prayer for Roseville's Silver Anniversary in 1973: "And bless the people too, for it is they who build a community. Grant them wise sense of values, so that together they may continue to enjoy the love, happiness, and motivation you bestowed upon them, and may they continue to work in a climate of achievement." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Roseville City Council, on behalf of its citizens, extends to Marie Slawik its gratitude and appreciation for her distinguished service of twenty-two years as Chairperson of the Central Park Foundation.
