<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the <br />City Council of the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, <br />Minnesota was duly held on the-9th da'.l' of June, ~986- at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: C~shffian, Johncon, Mat~R, <br />Kahr, and Demos, and the following were absent: None. <br /> <br />Member John~on introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 7905 <br /> <br />In Recognition of Marie Slawik's <br />Service to the City of Roseville <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1964, there was an exciting idea to create a 220 acre <br />park in the center of Roseville; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the idea gained momentum as various individuals and <br />groups responded to the challenge; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1964 Marie Slawik was appointed as Chairperson of the <br />newly formed Roseville Central Park Foundation, whose purpose was <br />to develop the new park through donations and contributions; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, because of the special interest of Marie and through her <br />guidance, a unique recreational area has been constructed for <br />those with physical limitations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during the past twenty-two years, Marie has committed <br />untold number of hours and resources to making Roseville a better <br />place to live and work; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, through Marie's boundless optimism and vitality the seed <br />of an idea was nurtured, a seed which has blossomed in twenty-two <br />years from being in the center of the community to the community <br />center-piece; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Marie has great faith in people. She wrote in a prayer <br />for Roseville's Silver Anniversary in 1973: "And bless the <br />people too, for it is they who build a community. Grant them <br />wise sense of values, so that together they may continue to enjoy <br />the love, happiness, and motivation you bestowed upon them, and <br />may they continue to work in a climate of achievement." <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Roseville City Council, <br />on behalf of its citizens, extends to Marie Slawik its gratitude <br />and appreciation for her distinguished service of twenty-two <br />years as Chairperson of the Central Park Foundation. <br />
