Commentary., The Purpose of this section i * twofold. It pro -
al ides a master Plan for signs on a zone loll or, r up of zone
W5 and pr►ilvides a master, record ofsigns on a zone lot or
group cif ione lots. Requin*ng planning and coordination of
signs on a property, will improve the streetscapie elven if the
localgovemmient does, not impose detailed substantive re-
quirements. Requifing the plan as a nutster, record of permit-
ted and' actual signage on, a property accomplishes two
functions'. It pro -vides thlosel who, ad minister the ordinance
with information about, what signs already exist on a site
when they are considepring a, permit application for a new
sign on the site,, and' it eliminates the, need to recompute per-
mitted sign. area - and numilbelm for a, property every time a
sign admin'is'tration or, enforcement question arises, because
the master record contains that information.
In short', this section provides signiftcant blenefitsto the com-
munity in administerlit'hig its sign reguilations. However
U.?
particular, community does not wish to impol thisrequire-
ment. Section 7.8cam be deleted in its entirety.- minor
moldificiations to Sections 11.6 and 1,1 ' willalso berequired
to delete the references to Master Signage Plans and Com-
milon Signage Plans.
