REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 3/11/91 ITEM NO.: 10 - 4 Depart Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: Consent Agenda Item Description: Final contract acceptance of 1990 Contract A Background: 1990 Contract A consists of: 1. Reconstruction of streets in the east half of Pavement Management Program Neighborhood 71 -- McCarrons Lake area 2. Construction of storm sewer in the above listed neighborhood 3. Construction of a Sextant Avenue cul -de -sac east of Dale Street A contract for this work was.awarded to T. A. Schifsky and Sons, Inc. of North St. Paul, Minnesota on April 23, 1990. See the attached construction project council action form which details project financing and schedules. Policy objectives: On July 23, 1990, the council approved a policy to final construction projects. This policy requires a project summary sheet, certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications, and a resolution by the council accepting the project and beginning the one -year warranty. Financial implications: The work performed under this contract was part of the 1990 Pavement Management Program. The cost of this project will be financed as outlined in the feasibility report presented to council on February 13, 1990. Change orders for the contract are within council policy guidelines. Staff recommendation: All necessary items as outlined in the city policy regarding final contract acceptance have been completed. Since all work has been completed in accordance with project plans and specifications, staff recommends the council approve a resolution accepting the work completed under 1990 Contract A and authorizing final payment in the amount of $194,866.80. The total amount paid for 1990 Contract A will be $1,353,621.85. COUNCIL ACTION: Approval of resolution accepting work completed under 1990 Contract A and authorizing final payment.
