REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 3/11/91 <br />ITEM NO.: D -C;L' <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />yl—!� y Organizational Business <br />Item Description: Volunteer Commission Appointments. <br />The City has advertised for applicants to fill vacancies on its four <br />standing Commissions. The number of vacancies and applicants for each <br />Commission are as follows: <br />No. of No. of <br />Commission Vacancies Applicants <br />Human Rights 2 2 <br />Parks and Recreation 3 3* <br />Planning 2 13 ** <br />Police Civil Service 1 3 <br />The Council needs to schedule interviews for the various Commissions. <br />If the Council feels it does not need to re- interview the Planning <br />Commission applicants who were interviewed in 1990, the interviews for <br />all four Commissions could be completed in one or two sessions. <br />Two possible dates are Monday, March 25 (before the Council meeting), <br />and Monday, April 1 (no Council meeting). <br />* Past Parks and Recreation applicants have been invited to apply by <br />Monday, March 11. <br />** Nine of the thirteen Planning Commission applicants -were interviewed <br />by the Council in March of 1990. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to establish a work session(s) on the following date(s) <br />for the purpose of interviewing candidates for <br />Volunteer Commission appointments. <br />
