Regular City Colunci * I Meeting <br />Mond',aly, January �O�5, 2009 <br />[Tage 9 <br />Councilmember Johnson advised that commissions had great access to in-house <br />assistance through staff provi"ding good communication flow" and noted that <br />commission Chairs could serve as conduits between Wei - r respective groups alid <br />the CI*tY Council,, similar to ambassaidors. <br />mr <br />T 1 1 V <br />Niayor Klausing reiterated his Preference that the Ir roles for the City Coun- <br />cil would be informal, allowing for continued independent advice from adv,isory <br />& a <br />commissions. <br />Counicilmember Roe noted the original intent in having a City Council IF to <br />the HRA was to ensure a good connection between the two bodies. <br />CounctImember johnson sought c, ar'ficat* i <br />I I ion on the original- point of reference for <br />0 assignments, 'whether at the request of or from frustrations expressed by <br />commissions, or in the City Council's efforts to be more communicative with <br />their advisory commissions. <br />Council' !member Roe advised that 'it was initiated from his review of other cities <br />4 <br />and their interactions wi V th their advisory commissions and other government <br />11 <br />agencies. Councilmember Roe specifically noted that roles of the City Council li. <br />aisons 'in the Ram S-ey County League of Local Governments (RCLLG) and <br />d the <br />Cable Conunission, an potential need for designated alternates for those groups, <br />Mayor Klausing noted his ongoing "interest in serving as an alternate to the Corn. <br />municatilon Commission.. <br />w <br />Councilmember Pust noted that, part of the discussion should be whether Coun. <br />cilmembers wished to continue serving in their current I roles, or whether <br />they weric interested in expanding or reftleshing their interests. <br />Mayor Klausing concurred noting that there was value * <br />in continuitv. but also <br />value in educating Councilmembers in other areas of interest to a- id their decision- <br />m�aking. <br />Councitmember IhIan noted. that a diesignee to the Cable Commission could be a <br />member of the public, as well as a Councilme.-alber. <br />
