Bids were solicited during February and March. <br />4 The bids were opened on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Based on the bids received, staff <br />5 recommends awarding the following work: <br />6 <br />"7 City Project No. P-08-04.- Mill & Overlay Projects <br />o Lydia Court- Lydia Avenue to cul de sac <br />9 9 Lydia Avenue- Highcrest Road to Brenner Street <br />o Brenner Street- Highcrest Road to Patton Road <br />o Arthur Street- County Road D to Brenner Avenue <br />12 o Brenner Avenue- Arthur Street to Mildred Street <br />13 o Centre Pointe Drive- County Road C-2 to Cleveland Avenue <br />14 9 Lydia Avenue- Centre Pointe Drive to Cleveland Avenue <br />I o Herschel Street- County Road B to South Highway 36 Service Drive <br />16 o South Highway 36 Service Drive- Herschel Street to Fairview Avenue <br />I 7 9 Fulham Street- County Road B to South Highway 36 Service Drive <br />I o South Highway 36 Service Drive- Fulham Street to County Road B <br />19 <br />('-) City Project No. P-07-02.- Street Reconstruction Project <br />2 1 o Ridgewood Road- from Asbury Street to the City limits <br />22 o Asbury Street- from T.H. 51 to the City limits <br />23 POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />24 Based on past practice, the City Council has awarded the contract to the lowest responsible <br />25 bidder. In the case of 2008 Contract B,, the lowest bidder is Midwest Asphalt Corporation, of <br />26 Hopkins, Minnesota. We have checked the contractor's references and found them to be <br />27 satisfactory. <br />28 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />29 We received eight bids for this project. The low bid submitted by Midwest Asphalt Corporation,, <br />3 ('-) $1J73,563.19,, is 15% lower than the Engineer's construction estimate of $,1,388,385.20. The <br />31 Arden Hills portion of the contract is $,7,775.35; this portion of the project is contingent upon <br />32 Arden Hills' City Council aDDroval- The followina is a list of the bids received-- <br />34 <br />Page I of 2 <br />
