The property where the post office 'is supposed to be, located, thos,
vi
zoned Industri,al, is indicated on the Comprehensive Plan as Busines
Development. If the land were zoned in a biulsinesis category, th
parking setback in the front would be 15 feet. Thus, the curren
proposal 'is 3 feelt greater than would be normally required in a Busines
'You will note too, that in the curreint proposal, there is no requests for
a setback to the side yard on the east side of the structure. Here
curbing and landscaping will be installed.
The, staff reviewed the condition of the exterior of the structure and
found that the three sides of
the buildli,ng have been stuccoed with a
rough texture, ands that the stucco
is in excellent shape. There are
existing expansion j in the
stucco which is a, common practice in a
well dloine stucco job. There apipiear to be no cracks in the building as
it currently, exists. 1 T'heriefore,
if' one w,ere to change the building to a
brick exteri,lor, this would be
very difficult because there is no brick
ledgle at the base of' the structure to receive the brick. Thus, it would
appear reasonable to pressure
clean the existing stucco, and paint the
entire building, perhaps, a soft
gray color. This would then in fact, be
similar to a new post office
riecently built in Fort Meyers, Florida,
where the structure was done
very attractively in gray with a minimal
y
use of blue trim. 1 You will
notice in the drawings presented that a
new entrance is pr,opoised at
the northeast corner emphasized by a
