This "is a winter activity, originated in <br />Canada especially designed for giorls. There are three or four communieft <br />t <br />lies in, the metro area that have Ringette programs. <br />41 1 5 <br />R,i,nqette is very, similar to, ice hockey, but uses a ring similar to a <br />deck tennis ring, and a straight stick rather than a curved stick as in <br />hockey, <br />a <br />The cirant stiopend gives participating, communities $1,500 to be used for <br />equipment and training materials in order to establish a program. One <br />Clomplonent of the grant is that communities band together in groups of <br />G <br />three to five cities,,, We have formed a consortium with Falcon Heights, <br />North, St.1 Paul, Maplewood,, and possibly White Bear Lake, <br />Our commitment to 'the grant, is to provide $1,000 of in kind services, <br />This could, easily be accomplished thr-ough the Recreation and Maintenance <br />41 1 <br />Staff in prleip�ariin,g outdoor rinks. <br />Motion, authorizing the City of Roseville to apply to the Minnesota <br />-Amateur Sports Commission for a $1,5100 grant to initiate a Ringette <br />program for girls. <br />
