Itis primary task is to protect state and local interests before <br />the Un, ited States Supreme Court. <br />The founding organizations, have Joined *in an effort to establish a <br />G <br />$5 million trust, fund, Income from the trust finances the Center"s <br />operating budget,. The,, NLC,, USCM,, and ICMA pledge to raise $1.5 million <br />as the municipal share.1 One million dollars has been raised with <br />& 6 a <br />contributions from over 1,,,000 cities and, state municipal leagues,. <br />The associations are asking additional, communities to make a one-tim <br />payment,, based, on population, to ensure that the interests of all <br />c1loties will be represented in the Supreme Court. The contribution <br />requested from Roseville w,oulid be $5100, 'Twenty-six other Minnesota <br />c ities have contributed. <br />i <br />The Council reviewed this matter at the December 11 work session, and <br />as,keld that it be placed on the agenda for consideration at the Decembe <br />18, meeti"ng. The Legal Center appears to have been a helpful too! in <br />6 0 <br />the past, and it is recommended the Council participate.
