<13- -71-kr44107(7t
(6 /11 „
SOUTHWEST AREA OF ROSEVILLE NEIGHBORS
SWARN
(Midland Grove Neighborhood)
Yesterday at the repeated requests of eight concerned SW Roseville residents
(the SOuthWestArea of Roseville Neighbors) the City of Roseville released a
2012 Budget Fact Sheet (complete copy attached). That Fact Sheet gives a
comprehensive look at the cumulative impact to Roseville taxpayers if the City
Council proceeds with issuing bonds for a new Fire Station ($8 million), Parks
Improvements ($19 million), a 4% proposed maximum property tax increase,
and a 60% increase in our water and sewer rates, combined with the
legislature's elimination of the Market Value Homestead Credit.
That Budget Fact Sheet, produced by the city's Finance Director Chris Miller,
states in part the following:
Combined Impact on Single Family Homeowners
When all impacts for the proposed initiatives noted above are combined, it
results in an ES77MATED monthly impact for a typical home of
approximately $24.66 per month. This represents% increase over
It is not as if the tax payers of Roseville have been starving local government.
According to the Ramsey County web site's page entitled Property Tax Rates and
Calculations (ramsey.mn.us/prr/TatRateCalc.htm) Roseville's tax levy over the last
five years has grown by $3,056,684, or 22%.
Our social security , pensions, salaries, and other income have not risen in any
way commensurate with this rise in city spending. At the same time our property
values have fallen. All this at a time of economic uncertainty, high
unemployment stagnant wages, and falling home values we believe it
is unfair to ask Roseville property taxpayers to bear the sole burden of
all these proposed initiatives, and respectfully ask the Council to
reconsider their support of these initiatives at their current proposed
funding level, and find other means of financing them.
Respectfully,
2c'g 0 3o.3 6 3 -17c7
Midland Grove Petition to City Council 1
