Roseville Ethics Commission <br />Minutes of the March 9, 2000 Meeting <br />Members Present: Connie Pease <br />Tom Ring <br />Barb Veath <br />Members Absent: None <br />Others Present: Steve Sarkozy <br />Joel Jamnik <br />The Ethics Commission minutes of the January 25, 1999 meeting were reviewed. <br />Pease moved, Ring seconded that the minutes of the January 25, 1999 meeting be <br />approved and accepted. Roll Call: All Ayes. <br />2. Pease moved, Veath seconded that the Commission recommend to the City <br />Council that Tom Ring be appointed to serve as Chair of the Ethics Commission <br />from April 1, 2000 — March 31, 2001. Joel Jamnik noted the by -laws state a <br />Secretary is to be nominated as well. Veath moved, Ring seconded, to recommend <br />to the City Council that Connie Pease be appointed to serve as Secretary of the <br />Commission from April 1, 2000 — March 31, 2001. Veath will send <br />recommendation letter to Steve Sarkozy to bring before the March 2000 Council <br />meeting. <br />Topics for the Annual Ethics Workshop were discussed. Joel Jamnik suggested <br />Craig Klausing, Staff Member of the Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board, <br />would be interested and willing to speak. After some discussion was agreed to <br />pursue. Jamnik will make the initial contact with Craig Klausing. For purposes of <br />having a record of viable speakers for the future, Veath and Pease will forward any <br />names they currently have available to Ring. <br />4. Discussed Ethics quotes that have appeared in the Newsletter. Original intent was <br />to provide a way to be a reminder to the community to keep ethics in the forefront. <br />There was considerable discussion about how to best accomplish this and what <br />role the Commission may play. A meeting will be set by Ring for May or June to <br />further discuss the possibilities and avenues. <br />With the resignation of Barb Veath, an opening of non - resident member has been <br />created. Position has been advertised. <br />
