Revision Date: May 28, 2002 <br /> 57 Job Summary: <br /> 58 Provides computer application support to city employees, and the employees of contract organizations. <br /> 59 Assists in maintaining network server applications, phone and voice mail systems. <br /> �;r�0 Scope of Responsibility: <br /> 6,1 The Desktop Support Specialist supports the city-wide information system network to ensure all functions <br /> 6d? conducted in an effective, efficient and timely manner. <br /> 63 <br /> 64 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <br /> 65 1. Responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support. <br /> 66 2. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems related the all information systems. <br /> 67 3. Performs system backups and recovery. <br /> 68 4. Maintains anti-virus software system and applies appropriate updates. <br /> 69 5. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves <br /> 70 software related problems. <br /> 71 6. Performs other duties as apparent or assigned. <br /> 73 Minimum Qualifications: <br /> "74 Associate's degree or a high school diploma and equivalent training and experience. 3-5 years work <br /> 75 experience in a professional capacity supporting computer end users. A+ Certification(CompTIA). Key <br /> 76 characteristics include thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office Professional software application suite, <br /> 77 and working knowledge of network operating systems;Windows NT Server,Windows 2000 Server,Novell <br /> 78 Netware. <br /> 79 Physical Demands & Workinm Conditions: <br /> 80 Most work is in an office environment,with extensive use of computers and peripheral equipment. Limited <br /> ������1 lifting of forty pounds or less is required. <br /> 8 <br /> 83 The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for diverse matters, some of which have deadlines and <br /> 84 require significant attention to detail.
