REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 2/14/11 <br />Item No.: 7. h <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Accept 20 10 Citizen Corps Grant Approval <br />11 BACKGROUND <br />2 me <br />The Fire Departnt has been awarded a 20....1 Citizen Corp Program contract in the amount of <br />3 $,6,580.00. The grant funds will be used to recruit and train citizen volunteers to participate in a <br />4, community based program, providing support to the Fire Department in a variety of ways. <br />5 The citizen volunteers will be trained to help provide fire education, assist in disaster situations, <br />6 basic operational support, and many other support functions. <br />8 All program costs for the first year, including training materials, will be covered using grant <br />9 funds.
