<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the <br />City Council of the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota <br />was duly held on the 11th day of May, 1987, at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Matson, Cushman, Johnson, Kehr, <br />and Wiski, and the following were absent: None. <br /> <br />Member Wiski introduced the following resolution and moved its adop- <br />tion: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8141 <br /> <br />ESTABLISHING POLICY FOR PUBLIC FACILITIES NAMING, <br />ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE TO CREATE A <br />ROSEVILLE VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION PROGRAM, <br />AND ADOPTING COMMENDATION FOR <br />RETIRING PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Roseville City Council recognizes the valuable contribu- <br />tions made to the vitality of the community by its citizens and business <br />people; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, It is an important public objective to adequately acknowledge <br />these significant volunteer contributions; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, A survey of other municipalities resulted in a recommendation <br />by the Parks and Recreation Board that a policy be adopted which <br />refrained from naming parks after individuals; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Roseville City Council adopts <br />the following: <br /> <br />1. That it shall be the general policy of the City Council and City <br />of Roseville to refrain from naming parks and public buildings <br />after individuals except in those instances where specific, <br />significant financial contributions are conditioned or warrant <br />acknowledgment of the benefactor; <br /> <br />2. That an ongoing program of recognition identified in the interim <br />as the Roseville Hall of Fame, with an equivalent name to be <br />determined, be established to acknowledge and memorialize the <br />volunteer contributions of individuals to the community; <br />
