EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE * * * * * * * * * * * Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 11th day of May, 1987, at 7:30 p.m. The following members were present: Matson, Cushman, Johnson, Kehr, and Wiski, and the following were absent: None. Member Wiski introduced the following resolution and moved its adop- tion: RESOLUTION NO. 8141 ESTABLISHING POLICY FOR PUBLIC FACILITIES NAMING, ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE TO CREATE A ROSEVILLE VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION PROGRAM, AND ADOPTING COMMENDATION FOR RETIRING PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR WHEREAS, The Roseville City Council recognizes the valuable contribu- tions made to the vitality of the community by its citizens and business people; and, WHEREAS, It is an important public objective to adequately acknowledge these significant volunteer contributions; and, WHEREAS, A survey of other municipalities resulted in a recommendation by the Parks and Recreation Board that a policy be adopted which refrained from naming parks after individuals; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Roseville City Council adopts the following: 1. That it shall be the general policy of the City Council and City of Roseville to refrain from naming parks and public buildings after individuals except in those instances where specific, significant financial contributions are conditioned or warrant acknowledgment of the benefactor; 2. That an ongoing program of recognition identified in the interim as the Roseville Hall of Fame, with an equivalent name to be determined, be established to acknowledge and memorialize the volunteer contributions of individuals to the community;
