<br />Last month,., the council reviewed proposals from, several consultants for their
<br />engineering work in conjunction with the potential construction of a bridge
<br />over I- 5W at County Road B-2. As the result of that meeting, council selected
<br />the consulting firm of S,EH,, Incorporated, as, the preferred firm to provide this
<br />service

<br />iscussions have been held with representatives of the firm to establish as clearly
<br />as possoble I 1 1
<br />I , the scope of the work and the Tesponsibility of all 'involved parties.
<br />Negotiations on, payment-type and amounts, similarly occurred. As the result of
<br />these, negotiations., a contract proposal has, been, submitted by the consultants. The
<br />engineeiring staff has reviewedthis c,oin,triact and find it to be acceptable and recom-
<br />mends itsi approval.
<br />The total payments to the engineer for, the preliminary report phase is $422450.00,
<br />The actual payment,, however, would be made on a payroll cost times the multiple
<br />of 2.1 basis., The actual cost, therefore, may be less than the $42,450 figure.
<br />Not, included in this figure are costs of' getting an aerial topographic map, soil
<br />borings,., or the cost of getting land acquisition estimates,
<br />The, work would 'include reviewing specific information, obtaining a land development
<br />expert.,, meleting with the affected property owners,,, evaluating the alternatives, J"-
<br />cluding land implact and 30.ts costs. It w,oluild then prepare -,pre 11 mi nary estImates'.

<br />At thkct point the city could either, continue the Process into the final design and
<br />Construction phase, delay, that decision, until, development occurs, or terminate the
<br />project

<br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Approval of a, motion approving an agreement -'for engi-
<br />neering services, with Short, Elliott and Hendrickson,
<br />incorporated, in cioinj i unct ion with work to be done on
<br />proposed bridge over I-35W and County Road B-2. The
<br />mayor and ci`.ty manager are authorized to slign the agree-
<br />ment in behal,f of the City of Roseville,
