Date: 10/24/11 <br />Item: 5.a <br />IN <br />f f min <br />ffffffffffff <br />f <br />National American Indian <br />L4eritlage Month <br />Novemhv__WWVAA <br />Whereas.- The American Indian community has made substantial contributions to the culture, <br />language and community of the United States; and <br />Whereas.- The City of Roseville is located on land that was once home to many Dakota and <br />Ojibwa Indians; and <br />Whereas.- The City of Roseville is committed to promoting racial understanding and equality <br />and justice as a fundamental aspect of a healthy community; and <br />Whereas.- The American Indian community has brought values and ideas that have become <br />ingrained in the American spirit, including respect for the natural environment,, respect for cultural <br />differences and respect for diversity that is a source of strength rather than division; and <br />Whereas.- By Act of Congress of the United States, November is declared as American Indian <br />Heritage Month; and <br />Whereas.- Roseville recognizes Native American Indian Heritage Month's 2011 theme of <br />"Service Honor Respect Strengthening our Cultures and Communities-" and <br />�P �P I <br />Whereas.- This observance offers special opportunities to become more knowledgeable about <br />the American Indian heritage and to honor the many American Indian leaders who have contributed <br />to the progress of our nation. <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the City Council hereby proclaim the month of November <br />2011 as American Indian Heritage Month in the City of Roseville and urge all citizens to join in <br />appreciation for our rich and diverse community. <br />In the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota,, U.S.A <br />In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Roseville to <br />be affixed this 24th day of October 2011. <br />Mayor Daniel J.
