k" REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 3/21/2011 Item No.: 7 . f City Manager Approval Item Description: Request for Approval of General Purchases or Sale of Surplus Items Exceeding $,5,000 BACKGROUND City Code section 103.05 establishes the requirement that all general purchases and/or contracts in excess of $,5,000 be approved by the Council. In addition, State Statutes require that the Council authorize the sale of surplus vehicles and equipment. General Purchases or Contracts City Staff have submitted the following items for Council review and approval: Department Info Tech. Air compressor 171372.00 Engineering Elk River Fleet Sales 2011 Ford Escape 171826.73 9 The telephone equipment is comprised of two replacement routers for the City's IP Telephony system. The 110 existing routers are 8 years old and are at the end of their useful life. About 50% of costs will be shared by 11 other cities. 12 13 The Fire Department radio replacements will be purchased off the State Bid Contract. 14, 15 The lift station control panel will replace a 44-year old panel and will be installed above-ground which will 116 eliminate the need for personnel to enter into a confined space to monitor and operate the station. 1 ��7 118 The diseased and hazardous tree removal continues our annual program conducted in accordance with State 119 and City Code mandates. 20 2i The sand bucket will be used to dig beside water and sewer mains to repair breaks and to remove sediment 22 from stormwater ponds.
