k" <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 4/11/2011 <br />Item No.: 7. b <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Request for Approval of General Purchases or Sale of Surplus Items <br />Exceeding $,5,000 <br />BACKGROUND <br />City Code section 103.05 establishes the requirement that all general purchases and/or contracts in <br />excess of $,5,000 be approved by the Council. Road C <br />61725.73 <br />Streets <br />Highway Technologies Inc <br />2011 centerline painting <br />81337.85 <br />Streets <br />Upper Cut Tree Service <br />Blanekt P.O. for Tree removal <br />251000.00 <br />Sewer <br />Ess Brothers <br />Blanket P.O. for sanitary sewer manholes <br />301000.00 <br />Storm utility <br />Ess Brothers <br />Blanket P.O. for storm sewer manholes <br />30,00 <br />The Microsoft license renewals are necessary to comply with computer operating software licensing <br />requirements. <br />The cost of the Fireworks will be offset by projected donations of $,5,340. <br />The contract for tree removal will be used for street and boulevard trees that are hazardous or diseased. <br />The manhole replacements are necessary to reduce inflow and infiltration into the sewer system. <br />Sale of SMIus Vehicles or Equipment <br />City Staff have identified surplus vehicles and equipment that have been replaced and/or are no longer <br />needed to deliver City programs and services. These surplus items will either be traded in on replacement <br />items or will be sold in a public auction or bid process. The items include the following: <br />Page I of 2 <br />
