A few net-zero homes are being built in Europe and the United States. Their cost is <br />somewhat higher than that of standard homes, but this premium will diminish. The <br />pace atwhich their production increases, and the pace atwhich the energy efficiency of <br />homes in general increases, will depend on various factors, including the cost of energy, <br />local standards, and national policies seeking to reduce dependence on foreign energy <br />sources and the impact of energy use on the climate. Whatever the Face, this trend will <br />continue until the net-zero-energy home is the standard for newly built homes. <br />MCI <br />
