We have put it into the form of a proposal that can easily be adapted to your actual needs.
For this approach, the National Research Center(NRC) is teaming with GreenPlay to bring you a wealth
of experience from across the country as well as in Minnesota, along with the technical expertise
necessary to provide outstanding results and information that you can count on.
We look forward to meeting with you at the National Recreation and Park Association Annual Congress
during the week of October 25 in Minneapolis to discuss this proposal with you. Both of us, Tom Miller
(NRC) and Chris Dropinski (GreenPlay) will be available to meet with you. In reviewing our schedules
and commitments, it appears that, if you have not already set your schedules, anytime on Wednesday
would be very workable, but we could also be flexible and carve out some time that might work on
Thursday morning. Please feel welcome to attend Tom's presentation, "How to Conduct a Parks and
Recreation Needs Assessment the Right Way," (session#155, 3:30-4:45pm, room 208D).
In the attached information we have provided information about various approaches to completing a
citizen survey, the pros and cons of different options, project experience, our national database, our
firms and ourselves. We will gladly provide additional explanation and answer any questions when we
meet.
In reviewing you draft Master Plan, we noted several experiences and findings. We want to continue the
high level of engagement you have had with the community by bringing a statistically valid component
of findings to the table. As this community survey is both an educational opportunity and an information
gathering tool, we want to help you discover ways in which the community will support the
connectedness and "taking care of what you have" that is desired, while considering new service
delivery methods and striving to meet other identified needs. We want to allow citizens to weigh in on
what's important and ways in which the investment into the community can be made.
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in Minneapolis!
Sincerely,
w iel
4
w Ir BOO a'uN a9p Nth f
Tom Miller, PhD Chris Dropinski, CPRP
National Research Center GreenPlay, LLC
• 3005 30th Street• Boulder, Colorado 80301• phone: 303-444-7863• fax: 303-444-1145• www.n-r-c.com •
