Roseville Perk:and Recreation Survey
As in the 2005 election,a majority of 2009 voters voted "yes"on Ballot Issue 2a to extend the dedicated
tax for another 5 years. As shown in the chart below, survey results were in line with voter response. In
fact, in both years City staff used the survey results to test which option (extending the tax another five
years, another ten years, or permanently)was the most preferred option and should go on the ballot.
The street tax brought in $10.5 million in 2008 to maintain, rehabilitate and improve city streets. In
2009,the city expects that tax to bring in about$9.3 million. Continuing to use an annual 3%growth
estimate from 2012 through 2016,the tax would generate$54,849,261 for street improvements and
maintenance.
Figure 2:Comparing Survey Response and Election Results
2009 survey
67°a •ii
response e
i 0U9 vote
Extending the dedicated 62% 2005 survey
tax for another 5 years
76
73%
0% 20% 40% 60% 80% 100%
Percent of respondents reporting "somewhat' or"strongly" support
Page 29
