Carter Ge!ye!n Memorial Donation to aice Russell <br />Park <br />I BACKGROUND <br />2 Over the! years, the City of Roseville! has, received many donations, from citizens, and program participants,. <br />3 These ! gifts, have been in the! form of both materials, and monies,. When staff is, notified of a potential <br />donation, they first make a determination of whether to recommend acceptance based on the! suitability of <br />the! item for the! city. An acceptance request is then forwarded to the! City Council. <br />6 <br />7 This, particular donation is a project to memorialize! Carter Ge!ye!n, a youngster of a tragic fatal accident in <br />Bruce Russell Park in August of 20 10. <br />10 The! proposed project drawing is attached and is an addition to the! existing playground and includes, an <br />interactive s,and play feature!, concrete ! walkway, a bench and drinking fountain. The! project will enhance! <br />12 the! park experience!. Future maintenance costs, would be borne ! by the City. <br />13 <br />The! proposal has, been reviewed by the! Parks, and Recreation Commission and is recommended approval. <br />h <br />16 A neighborhood/community meeting was, held o 1 <br />n Monday May 16 , 2011 where the! neighbors, were <br />I supportive!. <br />1 f Staff has been involved with and has reviewed the proposal and is working with the Ge!ye!n Family and <br />20 others, and recommends, approval. <br />21 POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />22 The! following is, the City of Ros,e!ville!'s, policy regarding the! acceptance of donations,- <br />23 0 Minnesota Statute requires, all donations, to be officially accepted by the City Council <br />2,JL 0 <br />The staff will not solicit donations,. <br />25 Donors, will be informed that no conditions, or promises, of future favorable! city action on their behalf <br />26 may be attached to the gift. <br />
