Willuo <br />623 MSS 2007 SUrnt-nary <br />Date: 6/25/08 <br />Roseville District <br />1.0 <br />Student A p Sr i � F6 �29 X35 <br />The following is a summary of 2007 Minnesota Stu�ent Survey (MSS) data from Roseville Area <br />Schools, District #623. The Minnesota Stu�ent Survey is administered every three years to <br />stu ents in gra es six, nine and twelve. The find�ings below are based on trend�s uncovered <br />over the past several ye rs of the MSS, and compare 2007 MSS data to data collected in 2004, <br />2001 and before. In a ition, these findings are also compared by grade level and in most <br />cases, by garner. <br />In 2007, cigarette smoking decreased among most Roseville area stu�ents with the exception <br />of twelfth grade females which took a �ramatic increase since 2004. Marijuana use declined <br />somewhat in 2007 r ono all levels of Roseville stu�ents after marked increases in 2004. <br />Howe�ver, alcohol use and sexual activity increased among both male and female 12 th grade <br />stu ents in 2007. <br />2007 MSS data also show that there were �ramatic �ecreases among ninth grade male and <br />fernale, and sixth grade male Roseville stu�ents having suicidal thoughts and attempts. <br />Howe�ver, there was not much change from 2004 among twelfth grade males and fernales, <br />and sixth grade fernale stu ents having suicidal thoughts and attempts. <br />The inci ents of thre tening or viole rt behavior (kicking, biting and hitting) among all <br />Roseville stu�ents at school decreased in 2007 from 2004. However, there was a slight <br />decrease in twelfth graders reporting they feel safe in school in 2007, as wee as a �ecrease <br />in twelfth graders reporting that "none or fewer" inci�ents of stu�ents threatening other <br />students of a different race occurred at their school. <br />Prepared by: Page 2 of I I <br />the ImpircwGroup- <br />
