If she is rIght, the why do we discriminate? If hunians are all the <br />same, then why do we act on the unimportant differences that make us all unique? <br />D1* sicrimination 'is a plositive or negative treatment, or making a distinction, of a person or <br />thing based on the category the person belongs in, not their individual self. If she 'is right, <br />they we have no grounds to Judge others who on, the inside are just like us. Itisacurse <br />. A <br />that, we pliague upon ourselves, but there are reasons why we discriminate. The reasons <br />that discrimination still exists 'in our modern world is because there is fearl, lack of <br />enforcement, and lack of understanding among d1iffierent groups of people. <br />People fear difference and change. If we fear others, then we cannot have a <br />chance of having a, positive opinion of them. Have you ever gotten really seared at <br />another person, maybe a bully? After you feel the fear, you begin to feel angry. This <br />anger can then be directed to people you feel to be similar to, the bully, his friends, or <br />maybe people whin looks like them. Fear 'is a vicious cyclie that 'is very hard to end <br />because the fear is ispricad just as easily as gossip in a middle school. Actually, the fear <br />can be spread as gossip. <br />The fear of change s very similar. Most humans have some fear of change, from <br />a new government regiine, to parents getting remarried, to a new pair shoes", change can <br />be scary. In our envirorunent we generally I 'Ike things to �stay the same, so when change <br />comes.,, we can make Judgments about the person who is inflicting the change, If one of <br />your parents' new spouse is, let's just say, not your ideal parent, then you might be seared <br />,of the upcoming change.
