Minutes - FRANC Planning Commiftee <br />Meeting #1 April 216, 2,007' <br />RRESENT� Sarah Brodt Lenz, Stacey Dahlstrom, Colleen Gabor, Amy IhIan, Rich "Jake" Jacobson (Committee <br />Chair), Monte Johnson, Dorothy aBrash, Rose Masanz, Marcy McNeal, James McNeal, Sarah McNeal, Gale <br />Pederson, Nancy Robbins, Jill Anfang, Lonnie Brokke, Debbie Cash, and Jeff Evenson. <br />ABSENT Julie Liarsoin, Jeff Seifriz, Jim Stark, Rich Straumiann, and Bob Willmus. <br />VISITORS- Mary Jean and Don Mende, Robert Meyer, Jan Kurhajetz, Mary Heller <br />a Introductions <br />0 General purpose and outcome of the Planning Committee <br />0 Website with email address to be set up, to encourage public input as well as a communication tool for this <br />committee <br />0 Explanation of notebook all Committee members were given <br />a Brief history and current status of IRAN C (Lonnie Brokke) <br />0 Reduction in school group visits — reduced funding for field trips for schools as one factor. Need to correlate <br />program offerings with educational outcome standards (Stacy Dahlstrom). <br />Jake Jacobson explained that in the future, each meeting of the Planning Committee will usually feature a <br />single topic to be investigated (such as programs for school groups, mentioned above). Each meeting will have <br />ample opportunity for questions, facilitated brainstorming, and ""challenges" to the committee members. [The <br />following are ideas for topics?] <br />Monte Johnson commented on the need to review the resources and capabilities of HANG before going <br />forward with the planning process <br />James McNeal asked to see the it big picture," "big goals" before taking a look at smaller issues. Jan <br />Kurhajetz suggested that thinking about resources /capabilities first could be limiting the imagination — think <br />big., <br />Sarah Lenz wondered about the sustainability, both fiscal and environmental, of HANG <br />Dorothy LaBrash stated the need to understand the "' competition" (other nature centers) and also how to <br />court corporate sponsors. <br />Homework: <br />Review the Imagine Roseville 2025 final report with an eye towards application to HANG <br />Make a llist of goals we'd each like to see, happen at HANG <br />Meeting frequency to be about once a month, third Thursday of the month until further notice.
