MEQUEST FOR, COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 3-17-08 <br />Item No.: I O.a <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: <br />Presentation and Acceptance of the Harriet Alexander Nature Center Planning Committee Report <br />BACKGROUND <br />2 On January 29, 2007 the City Council authorized staff to work with the Parks and Recreation <br />1) <br />15 Commission to establish a volunteer Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANG) Planning Committee <br />44 identifying Richard "Jake" Jacobson as the facilitator. <br />5 The committee was established to study, analyze, and guide HANG in short term and long term <br />E,,,, opportunities and to align with Imagine Roseville 2025. <br />7 The committee met monthly since the first meeting on April 26, 2007. They have completed their report <br />8 that includes a series of recommendations. Attached is a copy of the final report for your review. <br />At the On March 4 th 9 2008 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, Jake Jacobson presented the <br />report highlights and the Commission accepted the report. <br />Jake Jacobson will be at your meeting to present highlights of the final report. <br />�2 POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />1 11) <br />1) To be proactive in planning and to solicit citizen/committee input into projects and planning efforts <br />�Z� FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />� 5 None associated with the acceptance of the HANG Planning Committee final report. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />7 Based upon the recommendation of the HANG Planning Committee and the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission, staff recommends acceptance of the HANG Planning Committee final report as presented. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />20 Motion accepting the Harriet Alexander Nature Center Planning Committee report as presented <br />2 Motion thanking and recognizing Richard "Jake" Jacobson and the Harriet Alexander Nature Center <br />22 Planning Committee for their efforts over the past year and for their final report. <br />Prepared by: Lonnie Brokke, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Attachments: A: Harriet Alexander Nature Center Planning Committee Report, February 21, 2008 <br />Page I of I <br />
