Department Approval <br />;04 0 1 ZA <br />l <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />W'ate.- 8-11-08 <br />Ftem No..- 12A <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description.- Community Development Department Request to Perform a City <br />Abatement for Unresolved Violations of City Code at 2828 Griggs Street. <br />1 BACKGROUND <br />2 • The current owners are Scott and Pamela Anderson who live at the property. <br />3 • Notices requesting compliance were sent on June 17, 2008 and June 30th, 2008. No repair work <br />4 has yet been observed. <br />• The subject property has 7 other complaint cases on file since 2002. <br />6 • Current violations include.- <br />"7 Violation of City Code 906.05.C.- <br />Fascia soffits and trim boards are deteriorating and require replacement, repair and painting <br />9 some boards are rotted with large holes in them). <br />Violation of City Code 407.02.D.- <br />• A dead brush and debris pile in the yard <br />12 A status update, including pictures, will be provided at the public hearing <br />6 <br />'13 POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />14 The City goals within the Comprehensive Plan are to protect and improve property values (Goal 3, 4, <br />1 and 5; page 6 and, Section 3), and to adhere to performance standards which protect the integrity of the <br />I <br />16 housing units and the neighborhood (Policy 6, page 8, Section 3). <br />'17 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />11 111�":", City Abatement.* <br />An abatement would encompass the following <br />20 0 Repair and paint areas of deterioration on the fascia, soffits and trim boards.- <br />2 1 0 Approximately - $,4,000.00 <br />22 0 Remove dead brush and debris pile in the yard.- <br />23 o Approximately - $,350.00 <br />24 0 Total.- Approximately - $,4,350.00. <br />25 In the short term,, costs of the abatement will be paid out of the HRA budget, which has allocated <br />26 $,100,,000 for abatement activities.
