Department Approval <br />l <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date.- 11/24/08 <br />Item No..- 11.b <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description.- Public Hearing to Consider Liquor License renewals for the year 2009 <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 Staff is in the process of renewing all liquor licenses for the year 2009 The licenses to be renewed include, <br />4 ten (10) Off Sale Intoxicating (maximum of 10 allowed by City ordinance)�, twenty-three (23) On Sale <br />Intoxicating, four (4) Club, nine (9) Wine, fourteen (14) On Sale 3.2 Non-Intoxicating Malt Liquor, and <br />6 eight (8) Off Sale 3.2 Non-Intoxicating Malt Liquor (City ordinance or state statute do not limit the number <br />"7 of the last fi ve types of licenses). <br />9 By previous Council action, a hearing was established for this meeting to consider the renewal of these <br />1 ('_) licenses. <br />'12 Financial Implications <br />13 The revenue that is generated from the license fees is used to offset the cost of police compliance checks, <br />14 background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and license administration. <br />16 Council Action <br />1 7 Open the hearing and receive public comment (if any),.
