1 7 Because of inflationary impacts, freezing the budget for supplies, contracted services, and other areas, will <br />1 somewhat inhibit our ability to maintain current service levels. We anticipate challenges with. - <br />1 <br />20 ❖ Maintaining desired street conditions <br />2 1 ❖ Providing satisfactory snow removal and ice-control <br />22 ❖ Maintaining City parks, pathways, and streetlights <br />23 ❖ Diseased and hazardous tree removal <br />24 ❖ Police and Fire presence at community events <br />25 Proper funding for police, fire, and maintenance vehicles <br />26 ❖ Continuing education and training for City employees <br />27 ❖ Responding to unforeseen events or circumstances <br />28 POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />29 Adopting a preliminary budget and tax levy is required under Mn State Statutes. <br />30 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />3 1 The 2009 City Manager Recommended Budget calls for a property tax levy of $,14,095,580, an increase of <br />32 1,1 , 0 or .3 %. With this increase,, a typically-valued home would pay approximately $,582 per year <br />33 or $,48 per month. This represents an increase of $,2.71 per month or 5.9%. <br />34 <br />35 Further information on property tax data and comparisons are included in a separately attached memo. In <br />36 addition,, draft documents outlining the anticipated 2009 City Fee Schedule and Water & Sewer rates are <br />37 also attached. It is expected that the Council will take formal action on these items in October.
