Since we were told of the large amount of road we were going to be required to have
replaced, we have been challenging the County on their policy. On Friday, February
23,rd , we got some news from our plumber. He got a call from Dennis with Ramsey
County Public Works stating someone higher up told him that an exception would be
made for this situation and we would not have to replace the entire 12'x2O' panel
because the site of the digging was not in the driving lane. A significantly smaller
section of road will receive a permanent repair in the spring when the weather is
more agreeable. This provides some relief for our situation. To dig the hole, fix the
connection, replace the entire panel and other miscellaneous expenses, the final cost
was originally going to be nearly $11,000. When the plumber from Roto Rooter found
out about this, he felt terrible and cut us the best deal that he could, but the bill was
still $8,500. Not having to replace the entire panel will save us approximately
$2,200, but the final bill will still be a heavy financial burden for us. I am writing
you in the hopes that the City can look at our situation and give us some aid and/or
speak with the County about helping us further.
As mentioned, my husband and I moved to Roseville about 41/2 years ago with the
intent to settle in and start a family here. We had heard that Roseville is a friendly
community and a great place to raise a family. The folks we bought our house from
lived here for 3,0+ years and raised their three children in our home. Roseville and
what is now our home sounded like just the place for ust. We love it here and are
proud to live and do almost all of our business in Roseville. My husband is an IT
professional and I am now primarily a stay-at-home mother to our 9-month old son.
We look forward to staying in Roseville for many years to come.
Duane, than you again for all the help you have given us so far. I sincerely
appreciate your patience and willingness to answer my many questions. I truly want
to have an understanding of how this all works. Neither my husband nor I are in
anyway just looking for a handout or sympathy's for sympathy's sake. Plain and
simple, a bill like this is a serious blow and we believe there are extenuating
circumstances that make this situation unusual. Both of us have worked hard for
everything we have and this will be a tremendous financial load to bear.
We appreciate your consideration in this matter and look forward to hearing from
you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Anna (and Bill) Kron
1221 County Road B W
Roseville, MN 55113
651-492-0479
