228 <br />229 <br />230 <br />231 <br />232 <br />MOV IL I �A <br />Pa�rks and Recreation Depaftment <br />'e <br />W" n <br />40 <br />233 To: Bill Malinen, City Manager and Chris MIllim; FIr'1"'"' nce Director <br />234 From: Lonnie B,rokke Date: <br />235 July 9, 2008 <br />2 3 6, Re: Citizen or Council Budget Requests, / Suggestions, <br />237 The items identified at the June 9th 2008 budget hearing related to Parks and Recreation with a general <br />23, response include.- <br />239 <br />2 4 ('_) 1), Requested Item.- <br />24 i Additional funding for sidewalks, pathways, and tree replacements in the parks and on City boulevards <br />242 <br />243 <br />244 <br />245 <br />.General Response.-, <br />Currently there is a diseased and hazardous tree program only in the city with very limited resources. <br />To incorporate a tree replacement program would certainly be encouraged and would require additional <br />resources to manage, update the city tree inventory and plan and to contract for the installation of trees. <br />To get started,, depending on the scope, it would be necessary to expand hours of the part time diseased <br />and hazardous tree program technician (ideally adjust to a full time position),, increase contractual <br />services and allow a budget for the purchase of the new trees. <br />Parks and Recreation is responsible for the ongoing in sweeping and plowing of pathways. As new <br />pathways are considered for construction, equipment and personnel also needs to be factored in. <br />2), Requested Item.- New bathroom at the Muriel Sahlin Arboretum <br />General Response. This has been a legitimate request from the public for several years and is a <br />proposed joint funded project by the Roseville Central Park Foundation. It is in the CIP but not within <br />current budget guidelines and resources to accommodate. <br />3), Requested Item.-, Consider turning off lights at City Hall and the Holiday lights on the Civic Center <br />Campus to save energy (citizen) <br />Page I I of 12 <br />
