In fact, we are the largest donor of
the NLEOMF.
Each year, during Law Enforcement Week, members of the Police Unity Tour ride bicycles from
various locations around the country to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in
Washington, D.C. Our Chapter, Chapter 4, rides 250 miles from Portsmouth, Virginia to
Washington, D.C.
Upon arrival to D.C., we are proud to be a part of the week's festivities. One of the most
important tasks we do is escort all of the surviving family members of officers killed in the line
of duty to the memorial for the candle light vigil. Each year we raise money to support the
National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
POLICY OBJECTIVE
None.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS
None.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
01 =11
REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION
01 =11
Prepared by: Karen Rube y, Police Services Manager
Page I of I
