lls1Spvq+_J� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date.- 7/14/08 <br />Item No..- 12.d <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description.- Implement Imagine Roseville 2025 Goal of Purchasing 2 Radar Speed Boards <br />I BACKGROUND <br />2 Imagine Roseville 2025 strategies report lists the purchasing of five (5), speed boards as a <br />3 "Medium Priority."' The police department would like to purchase two (2) "Stalker"' radar speed <br />4 boards. The speed boards are portable cabinets which house a radar antenna and a large digital <br />5 light display. The units also come equipped with a rechargeable battery case. Each cabinet can <br />6 easily be secured to an existing City owned street sign post to be used throughout the City to <br />"7 warn drivers of their speeds. During the summer months more drivers, including new and <br />inexperienced drivers, as well as pedestrians are on Roseville streets and implementation of <br />9 speed boards would warn drivers to obey the posted speed limits and use more caution while <br />I ('_) driving. Locations of speed boards would vary depending upon citizen complaints,, traffic <br />"I'll accidents and school or work zones. <br />12 POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />13 N/A <br />14 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />15 $4,952.25 per speed board.
