1 <br />2 <br />Mqd <br />lls�kspvlffi:E <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />5 Department Approval <br />LIN <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />Date.- 10/27/08 <br />Item.- 9.a <br />Date.- 10/20/08 <br />Item No..- 9.a <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description.- Enact an Ordinance adding Section 509 to Title V allowing the <br />Police Department to run Non-criminal background checks for the <br />City of Roseville <br />BACKGROUND <br />Recently the Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions (BCA) took the position that an <br />ordinance was required in order for Cities to continue to use their Computerized Criminal <br />History information system for specified non-criminal purposes of background checks for <br />licensing, employment and volunteer positions described in the attached ordinance. <br />Without the ability to run these checks the City is unable to review an individual's <br />suitability for the task they are hired or volunteering for. This puts the City at risk. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />Enact an ordinance adding Section 509 to Title V of the Roseville City Code allowing the <br />Police Department to run Non-criminal background checks for the City of Roseville. <br />
