This data included property tax information on over 800 municipalities in the
State of Minnesota. The following information is presented for comparative purposes in an
effort to provide citizens and the Council with an understanding of how Roseville's property
taxes compare with other peer communities.
Although these comparisons somewhat mask local needs and preferences, it nonetheless provides
a general picture of each City's tax burden.
Comparison to Peer Group #1
The following table depicts a comparison of local property taxes for those cities in the Twin
Cities Metropolitan Area that serve a population between 25,,000-45,,000 residents. Roseville's
current population is approximately 34,000. This category attempts to group cities that have
similar size and scope of operations.
2007 Local Property Taxes
City
Savage
City Taxes *
1,179
Brooklyn Center
1,041
Inver Grove Heights
873
Richfield
841
Cottage Grove
84O
St. Louis Park
816
Maplewood
751
Shakopee
751
Fridley
737_
Andover
731
Oakdale
684
Shoreview
548
Roseville
541
* Based on a home valued at $2351000
