MEQUEST FOR, COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval <br />Date: 7-28-08 <br />Item No.: 12.a <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Community Development Department Request to Perform an Abatement <br />for Unresolved Violations of City Code at 2036 Western Avenue <br />1 ACKGROUND <br />2 • The current owner is Ms. Jane Brooks who lives in the home. <br />1 3 0 Numerous notices have been sent over the last few years, the latest on May 30, 2008. <br />4111 41, Current violations include: <br />5 0 An inoperable, unlicensed recreational vehicle in the driveway. <br />6 • An inoperable car in the driveway. <br />7 • Failing paint on the siding, fascia, trim, and windows. <br />0 2 entry railings that are loose and unstable. <br />0 Roof flashing by chimney not secured nor water tight. <br />0 A dead brush pile by the garage. <br />1� 2 These conditions are violations of Roseville's City Code, specifically: <br />1� 3 0 Section 407.02.0, which prohibits unlicensed and inoperable vehicles. <br />1� 1111 0 Section 407.02.1), which prohibits junk and debris. <br />1� 5 0 Section 906.05.C, which prohibits the exterior of structures falling into disrepair. <br />1� 7 A status update, including pictures, will be provided at the public hearing. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />1 The City goals within the Comprehensive Plan are to protect and improve property values (Goal 3, 49 <br />2() and 5; page 6 and, Section 3) and to adhere to performance standards which protect the integrity of the <br />2,,i� housing units and the neighborhood (Policy 6, page 8, Section 3) . <br />22 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />23 City Abatement: <br />241 An abatement would encompass the following: <br />25 0 Removal of the recreational vehicle by impounding. <br />MMOMIN <br />
