Department Approval: DATE.- 8/25/08 ITEM.- 7.f Manager Approval 15 OtMA-0 12 Item Description: Adopt a Resolution to Accept the Work Completed, Authorize Final 13 Payment of $,40,934. 10 and commence the One-Year Warranty Period on the 2007 Sanitary 14 Sewer Lining Project. Background: On August 13, 2007 the City Council awarded the 2007 Sanitary Sewer Lining Project to Veit & Company, Inc., of Rogers, Minnesota. The work for this contract was finished in February and the contractor has requested final payment. This project consisted of 4,411 lineal feet of sanitary sewer main lining in areas throughout the City identified as having root intrusion or infiltration problems. Policy objectives: City policy requires that the following items be completed to finalize a construction contract.* • Certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in accordance with plans and specifications. • A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty. Financial implications: The final contract amount,, $,110,571 is $1,841 less than the awarded amount of $112,412. This represents a decrease in the contract of 1.6%. The cost decrease is the result of the actual lined length of sanitary sewer being 32 feet less than the estimated length of 4,443 ft. Staff recommendation: Since all necessary items have been completed in accordance with project plans and specifications, staff recommends the City Council approve a resolution accepting the work completed as the 2007 Sanitary Sewer Lining Project and authorize final payment of $,40,934. 10.
