The presentation included explanations about how medical calls are 4 handled in the city, the differences in training and skill levels between afirst responder, an 5 advanced emergency medical technician (EMT) and a paramedic. The presentation noted.- 6 1. Medical services are provided in a collaborative effort by fire, police, and Allina. "7 2. Allina provides all the medical supplies and training for the fire department. 8 3. Allina provides the medical direction for the fire department. 91 4�. The addition of fire department advanced EMTs responding to medical calls required no 10 additional budget allocation. 'I '1 5. There was proposed legislation to allow first responders to bill for services. ,12 At the time of the presentation, the fire department had 5 months of experience providing ,13 advanced level medical first-responder care.
