Malinen <br />2660 Civic Center Drive <br />Roseville, MN 55113 <br />Dear Mr. Mal .erg <br />X, <br />The Ramsey County Sheriffs Department is bound by state statute to provide a means of permitting <br />temporary structures and events that are placed and occur on the public waters within the county. We <br />are also required to answer calls for service on the water. Our department also has a confract with the <br />city of Roseville to provide forty-two hours of patrol coverage on Lake Owasso, <br />With that being said, state law is the basis for what activities are permitted on the lake and which are <br />not. ' In some cases ' such as speed limits and no wake zones, city or county ordinances are more <br />restrictive than state law, and that is the case on Lake Owasso. any times those Ord inancesMi]Tor <br />state statute. <br />Wherl, there is an infraction that occurs on a public waterway, it is handled the same as any other type <br />of police call or traffic violation. The discretion of the officer determines the .course of action taken. If <br />it ' is determined that a citation should be issued, it may h under state statute or any applicable <br />city or county ordinance, <br />I have attached several state statutes that cover specific information that you requested.
