��S�E <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date.- 09/22/2008 <br />Item No..- 5.a <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description.- Recognition of Roseville Officer's work during the Republican National <br />Convention <br />I BACKGROUND <br />2 On July 2 1, 2008, The City of Roseville and the City of St. Paul entered into a Joint Powers Agreement <br />3 Regarding Public Safety Related to the 2008 Republican National Convention (RNC). As a result of <br />4 this Agreement the Roseville Police Department assigned 20 officers to work with the St. Paul Police <br />5 Department in providing public safety services during the RISC. Officers worked in excess of their <br />6 assigned 12 hour shifts for 6 days straight. Because of this assignment the Police Department has <br />"7 received numerous letters of thanks from citizens (see attachments). <br />9 Chief Carol Sletner will be at the meeting to share comments from the officers and citizens on the <br />I incredible work performed under extreme circumstances by Roseville Police Officers. <br />"I'll <br />Prepared by: Rick Mathwig <br />Page I of I <br />
