Rskspvlffi� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval <br />Date: 4/14/08 <br />Item No.: 7.i <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Joint Powers Agreement for Mobile Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Roseville Fire Department does not own or operate our own CAD system or dispatching <br />system. Instead the Roseville Fire Department utilizes the services from the Ramsey County <br />Consolidated Communications Center. Within this agreement the City of St. Paul provides <br />Computer Aided Dispatching services to Ramsey County and the surrounding suburban cities. <br />To provide more accurate and timely information to responding firefighters the Roseville Fire <br />Department would like to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the City of St. Paul Fire <br />Department to have in- vehicle laptops equipped with a wireless version of CAD. These units <br />will provide real -time information for firefighters responding to emergencies throughout the city. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />The City of Roseville would enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the City of St. Paul Fire <br />Department. The attached Joint Powers Agreement (Attachment A) has been reviewed and <br />approved by the City Attorney. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />Funding is currently budgeted for this service and would come from the fire departments <br />operations budget. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommendation is for council to approve the Joint Powers Agreement with the City of St. <br />Paul. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to enter into and execute on behalf of the City a contract with the City <br />of St. Paul to provide wireless computer -aided dispatch (CAD) services in the amount of aone -time <br />set -up fee of $1,800 and an annual maintenance fee of $2,700. <br />Prepared by: Richard B.
