REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION <br />Department Approval <br />,0�9 7-�ods _- . <br />DATE: 5/09/2008 <br />ITEM NO. 12.b <br />Agenda Section <br />Item Description: Request by Metro Transit for a Sketch Plan review of their desire to <br />construct a Park and Ride facility at 2750 Cleveland Avenue, formerly Old <br />Dominion Freight Lines (PF08 -021) <br />1 1.0 BACKGROUND <br />2 1.1 Metro Transit seeks the Planning Commission's comments on a proposal to construct a <br />3 460 vehicle park and ride facility in the northeast corner of the Old Dominion parcel <br />4 within the Twin Lakes Redevelopment Area. <br />5 1.2 The site is currently 1.27 acres in size, measuring approximately 319 feet along Iona Lane <br />6 and approximately 173 feet along Mount Ridge Road. <br />7 1.3 The proposal seeks use of Iona Street, which they would construct as a component of the <br />S project, which road would eventually connect into Mount Ridge Road. <br />9 1.4 The proposed facility includes four levels. The main level or ground level would hold <br />10 approximately 110 vehicles; levels 2 and 3 would hold approximately 120 vehicles; and <br />11 level 4 would hold approximately 110 vehicles. <br />12 1.5 The parking structure would include an access from Mount Ridge Road, rider pick -up from <br />13 a designated bus land along Iona Lane, and a waiting area in the northwest corner of the <br />14 structure. <br />15 2.0 SUMMARY OF PROCESS <br />16 2.1 This item will be considered by the Planning Commission on June 4, 2005, with their <br />17 comments being verbally provided by Community Development Staff at the June 9, 2005 <br />15 City Council meeting. Should the project proceed forward, it would be required to apply <br />19 for and receive General Concept and Final Development Planned Unit Development <br />20 approvals. <br />21 2.2 Due to Metro Transit processes, the project would not be forwarded to the Planning <br />22 Commission until the August 6 meeting. <br />23 3.0 SUMMARY OF SUGGESTED ACTION <br />24 3.1 Provide Metro Transit and the Planning Staff with comments regarding this proposal for <br />25 the Twin Lakes Redevelopment Area. <br />PF08 -023 RCD_SketchPlan 060908 (4).doc <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
